A representação social da família : desvendando conteúdos e explorando processos

Abstract

Esta tese apoiou-se no referencial teórico das representações sociais (RSs) e utilizou conceitos clássicos da Psicologia Social para estudar os conteúdos das representações sociais de família e os processos subjacentes a sua sociogênese, abordando as variações no tempo e no espaço social. Foram realizados três estudos. Com o primeiro buscou-se mapear a estrutura das RSs e verificar suas variações no espaço social (variações grupais em função do sexo, escolaridade e faixa etária) e no tempo (significados da família ao longo dos diferentes momentos históricos). Participaram deste estudo 600 pessoas. Os dados foram obtidos da Técnica de Associação Livre, usando-se como termos indutores a família, a família do presente, do passado e do futuro. Usou-se o software Evoc para a análise dos dados. O segundo estudo abordou os processos envolvidos na construção das RSs de família nas relações intra e intergeracionais. Foram realizados quatro grupos focais, com jovens, adultos, idosos e quatro gerações de uma mesma família, somando 29 participantes. Foram feitas análises de conteúdo e conversacional. Com o terceiro estudo buscou-se superar os limites dos trabalhos anteriores, com os quais a gênese da RS foi acessada por meio da memória. Neste, foram selecionados 323 artigos sobre a família, distribuídos em 50 anos da Revista Família Cristã. Estes dados foram submetidos à análise lexical, utilizando-se o software Alceste. Os três estudos foram ancoradas nos níveis de explicação psicossocial – intraindividual, interpessoal, intergrupal e societal – e evidenciaram uma RS de família hegemônica, idealizada e normativa ancorada em discursos religiosos e científicos, que resiste às mudanças nas práticas e atua como referencial para a análise da realidade social. Já os sentidos das transformações são modulados pelas experiências pessoais significadas a partir de diferentes inserções sociais e voltadas à proteção identitária. Neste processo, metassistemas novos e arcaicos se articulam na regulação mútua dos discursos. Esta regulação é pautada em processos de influência social também que norteiam as transformações históricas na RS veiculada pela Família Cristã. A atual noção de “crise familiar” é construída em meio a instáveis jogos de poder entre instituições que buscam ampliar sua influência e atuar como matriz hegemônica de produção de sentidos sobre a família. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

Based on the theoretical perspective of Social Representations (SRs) and approaching variations across time and social spaces, this thesis used classic concepts from the Social Psychology in order to study contents of social representations of family and the processes underlying their sociogenesis. The first study sought to map the structure of SRs and to verify their variations across the social spaces (group differences according to gender, educational level and age range) as well as across time (meanings of family along different historical moments). The sample of this study was 600 people. The data were obtained from the Free Association Technique which was based on the following inductor terms: family, family of the present, past and future. The software Evoc was used to analyze the data. The second study approached the processes involved in constructing social representations of family in intra and intergeneration relations. Four focal groups were carried out with youths, adults, elders and four generations of the same family, totalizing 29 participants. Content and conversational analyses were conducted. The third study aimed at overcoming the limitations of the previous investigations in which the genesis of the social representation was assessed trough memory. In this study, 323 articles about family were selected from 50 years of the Família Cristã (Christian Family) Magazine. Using the software Alceste, these data were submitted to lexical analysis. These three studies were grounded on levels of psychosocial explanation – intra-individual, interpersonal, intergroup and societal – and it pointed out a social representation of family which is hegemonic, idealized and normative. This representation is anchored in religious and scientific discourses which resist the changes regarding the social practices and operate as a referential to analyze the social reality. The meanings of the transformations are modulated by personal experiences meant from the different social insertions, which aim at protecting identity. In such process, new and archaic meta-systems are articulated in the mutual regulation of the discourses. This regulation is based on processes of social influences which guide the historical transformations in the social representation conveyed by the Família Cristã. The current notion of “family crisis” is built up in the middle of power games between institutions which seek to expand their influence and operate as hegemonic meaning-maker matrix about family.
