A variação lingüística nos livros didáticos de português (5ª a 8ª séries)

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo verificar o tratamento dado à variação lingüística por dez livros didáticos de 5ª a 8ª séries, pertencentes a dez coleções distintas. Os volumes dos livros estão assim distribuídos: três da 5ª série, um da 6ª, três da 7ª e três da 8ª série, sendo selecionados pelo critério de maior referência à variação lingüística. Todas as coleções analisadas foram aprovadas pelo PNLD de 2005 e apenas duas delas foram reprovadas e, portanto, excluídas do Guia de Livros Didáticos – PNLD 2008. A abordagem adotada para a apresentação desta pesquisa foi a sociolingüística, fundamentada nas bases teóricas de Bagno (2000, 2001, 2002, 2007), Bortoni-Ricardo (2004, 2005), Soares (2005), Labov (1983), dentre outros. O resultado foi satisfatório no sentido de que houve uma significativa melhora na qualidade dos livros didáticos de língua portuguesa desde a publicação de materiais elaborados por profissionais da Lingüística e da Pedagogia que integram as equipes do MEC, tais como os PCN e o PNLD; mas, por outro lado, detectamos ainda equívocos conceituais, mistura e confusão terminológica e um nível de criatividade reduzido em relação à abrangência de gêneros textuais e de exercícios direcionados à variação lingüística. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the treament assigned to linguistic variation in ten textbooks from the 5th to the 8th series, selected from ten different collections. The books were distributed as follows: three from the 5th series, one from the 6th, three from the 7th and three from the 8th series, having been selected according to the criterium of reference towards linguistic variation. All the collections analysed were approved by the National Program for the Textbooks (PNLD) from 2005 and only two of them were not approved and, therefore, removed from the Guide of Didactic Books – PNLD 2008. The approach chosen for the presentation of this research was the sociolinguistic, with foundations on the theoretical bases of Bagno (2000, 2001, 2002, 2007), Bortoni-Ricardo (2004, 2005), Soares (2005), Labov (1983), among others. The result was satisfactory indicating that there was a substantial improvement in the quality of the didactic books of Portuguese language since the publishing of materials elaborated by experts on Linguistic and Pedagogy participating in the teams of the Ministry of Education (MEC), such as the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN) and the National Program for the Didactic Book (PNLD). On the other hand, however, it is possible to verify the existence of conceptual mistakes, lack of clarity and terminologic confusion, in addition to a decreased level of creativity in connection with the complexity of textual variations and exercises aimed at the linguistic variation.
