| Abstract: | O artigo discute as contribuições da Escola de Frankfurt ao debate sobre a cultura no capitalismo. São analisados escritos de Max Horkheimer, Theodor W. Adorno e Herbert Marcuse que, com peculiaridades e nuances, partilham um diagnóstico geral a respeito do funcionamento da cultura no capitalismo tardio. O fio condutor do artigo é examinar como a cultura é investigada por esses autores como uma esfera indispensável à reprodução ampliada das relações capitalistas, na medida em que se instaura como uma instância privilegiada de socialização e subjetivação, especialmente após a Segunda Guerra Mundial. |
| Abstract: | The article discusses the contributions of the Frankfurt School to the debate on culture within capitalism. Certain writings of Max Horkheimer, Theodor W. Adorno and Herbert Marcuse are analyzed, which, with their peculiarities and nuances, share a general diagnosis about the functioning of culture in late capitalism. The guiding thread of the article is to examine how culture is investigated by these authors as an indispensable sphere for the expanded reproduction of capitalist relations, inasmuch as it establishes itself as a privileged instance of socialization and subjectivation, especially after World War II. |
